Injury Management Services

Individual Case Reviews and Advice

Workers compensation claims can be time-consuming and expensive. Workwise Safety & Rehab assist our clients by providing an expert therapist with years of experience to review indivudal cases and provide advice on the next moves for the staff member or the organisation.

Outsourcing of Rehabilitation Coordination and Case Management Services

This service is particularly suisted to those organisations with a higher risk of injury and larger organisations. A Workwise consultant will operate in-house to provide return to work services on an ongoing basis and manage the overall rehabilitation system.

Suitable Duties/Return to Work Programs

Occupational Therapists are skilled in determining suitable duties for workers with particular injuries. Your consulting occupational therapist will liaise with the treating doctor to ensure worker’s are performing appropriate duties which will assist them to an early and safe return to work.

Work method Analysis and Training

A workwise consultant can analyse the work methods used for manual tasks, identify those practices which may place workers at a higher risk of injury, and recommend changes that will reduce this risk.

Assessments

Pre-Employment Screening

This service involves assessing an individual job applicant’s physical and functional capacity against the critical physical demands determined necessary to perform the job for which they are applying.

Initial Needs Assessments

The aim of this assessment is to: provide an overview of the current status of the injured worker; determine the rehabilitation goals; and establish a plan of action to achieve these goals. This is achieved through in-depth discussion with an injured worker and consultation with all other relevant parties.

Workplace Assessments (WPA)

Workplace assessments are conducted at your business premises with the aims of determining the physical demands of the job, and a worker’s level of function. The results provide the basis for establishing a return to work program, or for making decisions regarding a individual’s ability to return to a particular job.

Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE)

This is an objective assessment of an individual’s existing and potential functional tolerances. The assessments can be tailored to a specific job, the worker’s previous work experience or potential employment opportunities.

Workplace Training

Workwise Safety & Rehab offers training in the areas of:

  • Manual Handling
  • Office Ergonomics
  • Safe Work Methods
  • Vehicle Ergonomics and Risk Factors Associated with Driving
  • People Handling
  • Education about the Worker’s Compensation System – for supervisors/management or all employees
  • Risk Assessments

All of our training is specifically tailored to the particular needs of your organisation, and training sessions are competency-based. This means that your organisation will be provided with a record of each employee’s results, a significant advantage if your business is ever sued for negligence in a Common Law Claim, since this statement of training can be accepted as permissible evidence.

Injury Prevention and Risk Management

Job/Task Analysis

We can provide a detailed assessment of an overall work area, a particular job, or the component of a job, and identify potential hazards in each step of the task. Appropriate recommendations can then be made to minimise the injury risk associated with a task.

Manual Task Audit

Workwise will conduct a detailed assessment on each manual task in a workplace in order to determine potential hazards associated with each task. We’ll then make recommendations that either eliminate, or minimise any identified risks.

Early Intervention

If your business has good reporting systems in place, you may become aware of a worker who is experiencing minor discomfort in a particular body area. This is an ideal time to call in one of our consultants. By getting in early the chance of avoiding a more serious problem is good, and that also means less chance of a worker’s compensation claim. What’s more, our recommendations regarding work method changes may actually lead to a gain in productivity.
